Après le billet précédent Besoin d’un Web Designer, j’ai eu des contacts très constructifs avec Vincent Le Moign.

On a pu confirmer l’envie commune d’une collaboration entre les deux projets idPhoto Gallery et Spread CMS.

Nos efforts seront joints sur plusieurs parties, en commençant par la partie “édition”.

La maquette Spread Gabarit et micro-éléments dégage une foule d’idées appropriées à la publication de contenu web :

• Gabarits pensés, équilibrés pour présenter différents médias :
  • Texte seulement.
  • Texte hiérarchisé de manière sémantique (titres / sous titres, listes, tableaux…)
  • Texte et image.
  • Texte et images, placées pour illustrer une partie spécifique de texte.
• Gabarits incluant des blocs & colonnes à remplir.
• Gabarits modifiables par déplacement à la souris.

Je n’ai pas encore d’idée arrêtée quand à la bonne manière d’écrire le contenu dans la page. Vaut il mieux :

1. Le taper directement dans un éditeur qui présente le résultat final (WYSIWYG) ?
2. Taper le texte au format wiki, séparé en blocs à placer à la souris dans le gabarit ?

Si l’implémentation est réussie, cet éditeur pourra être mis à disposition sous forme de plugin Rails.

I’ve selected two licenses for the idPhoto Gallery project :

• Affero General Public License 1.0
• Open Software License 3.0

Both licenses provides strong copyleft and have the particularity to protect web softwares.

Affero GPL has the support of the Free Software Foundation and is directly derived from the GPL v2.
OSL is supported by the Open Source Initiative and is a new license.

The author of the RedCloth library, a Textile (text to html) text markup, is working on a corrected and optimized version called SuperRedCloth.

It’s mostly implemented in ragel language, that outputs C sources compiled to a native, fast and still extensible ruby extension.

I’ll soon add it’s support to idPhoto Gallery.

Je viens de contacter Vincent Le moign, Web Designer de talent, qui a réalisé de fantastiques travaux pour le projet Spread CMS (entre autres).

J’ai eu l’occasion d’échanger avec lui et de l’écouter pendant les journées Paris on Rails 2006, où j’étais conférencier sur le thème “Hébergement Haute Disponibilité avec Ruby on Rails”.

idPhoto Gallery, profitant de la puissance des outils dont il dispose petit à petit durant son développement, a besoin d’une interface de gestion concise et efficace, comme seuls de bons designer savent en construire.

Alors Salut à toi Vincent, j’espère que j’aurai la chance que tu contribues à ce projet :)
Un peu, ou même beaucoup, si tu veux diriger le design de l’appli, j’en serai ravi !

I sill did not decided under wich license idPhoto Gallery license will be published, and contributions will be accepted.

My first choice would be the GPL license. Some other licenses could be suitable, like Creative Commons BY-SA or GPL + MPL.

URLs generated by idPhoto Gallery are nice by default, but are still customizable.

This way, you can keep clean (short) URLs, and optimize them like do crazy SEO amateurs (or pro, sometimes that's even worse;) !

Every URL is designed to be durable. You won't be disappointed by broken links, neither your visitors.

Now that there are some tags, you can take a look at the Tag Cloud

idPhoto incorporates some great and rare tags features.

• Displays a list of tags similar to a selected tag.
• Suggest similar content (photos, writings, collections..) based on how elements are tagged

This blog is the first demonstration of this features, especially when it will contain more posts :) Hey developers, take a look at the sources of the Tag model, I’m waiting for your suggestions.

I must say that it's powered now by the very first production mode of idPhoto Gallery, through it's blog module, so.. it can break ;)
